Special Interest Groups

One of the things that AWCCS can be most proud of is the variety of club activities it has to meet the diverse interests of its club members. A fine example of this is the many Special Interest Groups we have to offer. Please refer to the club newsletter for scheduled events and meeting times. Some examples of Special Interest Groups are below and are open to all members.

Art Lovers Group

This group meets monthly at various art museums or centers. It is a great way to see the new exhibits in town and enjoy discussions with members of the group.

Book Groups

These groups are open to any member of the AWCCS at any time - there is no membership fee or obligation to attend consistently. Several non-AWCCS members also attend, which brings the stimulation of a variety of nationalities, experiences and attitudes to the discussions. Books are chosen based on the interest of the group. There are Book Clubs in both Edinburgh and Glasgow (Glasgow combines the elements of wine and cheese with their book group).

Champagne Night Out

An informal group held in Edinburgh to just use for "blethering" and basically chilling out!

Coffee Mornings

Both Glasgow and Edinburgh offer once a month coffee mornings for an informal get together which is very nice for non-members who are interested in learning more about the club.

Computer Skills Ehnancement

This group meets monthly to discuss issues such as graphic arts and computers, web page writing and more recently using your photos to do slideshows online as well as presentations on DVDs.

Friday Dinner Club

Our members in Fife get together monthly for a great time at dinner on a Friday night (evening chosen to suit the members of the group).

Moms & Tots

This group was formed to organize events for Moms with young children. Anyone interested attends as events are scheduled.

Out to Lunch Bunch Glasgow

Anyone interested meets once a month to go out to lunch at a given restaurant on a given day. The lunch is scheduled according to the time and day convenient to the group.

Scrapbooking

This group meets to work on organising and displaying photographs in albums. It's a fun time to share tools, ideas and conversation while actually getting photos out of shoeboxes and into albums. Instructions and supplies are available.

Voting Coordinator

Our voting coordinator is devoted to geting information out about voting in the United States and to ensure that all of our members and their families are registered to vote in their State.

Is there a hobby or interest you love, but don't see it listed? Or is a current Interest Group not meeting in your area? Why not introduce a new Interest Group? We always need new leaders for these groups, if you are interested, please contact info@awccs.org.
